I always drive with the windows open, heat turned off, winter morning. I want to feel something. My eyes are heavy, like the heart of this city. Everyone around me seems so stuck in the past. I watch the houses pass through the melt lines in my windshield. I left too fast. I always go too fast. The frost recedes like my focus on my dreams; blurry, only an outline remains. By the time my tires have touched highway, the speed limit has already been long passed. I always go too fast. My mind is trying to move on, like a Delorean waiting on a lightning storm. Just you wait until this baby hits eighty-eight.
